On 15 May 2019, Dr. Peter Derendinger, Chairman of the Board of Credit Suisse (Schweiz) AG was elected as Chairman of the Swiss Finance Council, replacing Alexandre Zeller, who resigned end of February 2019.

SFC Chairman Derendinger said: “It is an honour for me to assume the role of the Chairman and represent the Swiss Finance Council. The financial services industry constitutes a critical element of the strong and multifaceted relations between Switzerland and the European Union, facing many opportunities and challenges, particularly as regards market access and in the regulatory arena. As an industry association we want to play our part to further improve the already good and mutually beneficial relations, encourage cooperation, and foster regulatory dialogue across borders.”

The Swiss Finance Council was established in November 2013 to engage in dialogue around policy developments in finance at a European and international level. It represents the interests of internationally active Swiss financial institutions and facilitates sharing of experience, expertise and knowledge through a permanent representative office in Brussels. The Board of the Swiss Finance Council currently consists of Urs Rohner, Chairman of the Board of Credit Suisse Group AG, Axel Weber, Chairman of the Board of UBS AG as well as Lukas Gähwiler, Chairman of the Board of UBS Switzerland AG and Peter Derendinger, Chairman of the Board of Credit Suisse (Schweiz) AG.
